In a narrow cobblestone alley of Montmartre, tucked behind a rusting iron gate, sat a bar known only to those who needed to forget. It had no name on the door, only a swirling green lamp that flickered like a dying eye. They said it once hosted Rimbaud, maybe even Toulouse-Lautrec, but such claims were as cloudy as the drink they all came for.
Absinthe.
They called it the Green Faerie, but most who sought her company didn’t believe in fairies. They believed in forgetting, in inspiration, in madness—whatever the hour demanded.
One damp evening in 1905, a failed painter named Lucien Morel slouched into the bar with the gait of someone recently ruined. His hands smelled of turpentine and debt. His last painting, an unfinished portrait of a woman with no face, leaned against a cracked easel in his garret, slowly growing mold. He sat at the counter and asked for something “to burn out what’s left.”
The bartender said nothing. She placed before him a glass, a sugar cube, a slotted spoon, and a bottle. The liquid was emerald, luminous in the half-light.
Lucien watched as the liquid dripped slowly over the sugar cube, dissolving it, turning the absinthe into a swirling, pale cloud. The louche effect, they called it—a transformation, a baptism.
“Why do they say it makes you mad?” he asked.
The bartender shrugged. “Maybe it doesn’t. Maybe it shows you you’ve always been mad.”
He drank. First one glass, then two. Time lost its grip. The gaslights turned into stars. Music began where there was none. At the corner of his eye, he saw her.
She was green from head to toe, translucent and tall. Not beautiful in the way of women, but in the way of storms, of broken clocks, of endings. She smiled without kindness.
“You called for me,” she said.
Lucien nodded, though he wasn’t sure why. “What do you want?”
“I want what all muses want,” she whispered. “Your soul, in exchange for one more masterpiece.”
His hand began to twitch. In his mind he saw brushstrokes—fierce, brilliant, alive. Colors he'd never used, angles that defied geometry. He saw the portrait of the faceless woman finally completed—only now, she had his face, hollow-eyed, grinning.
“Will it sell?” he asked.
“No,” she said. “But they will never forget it.”
He awoke the next morning in his garret, paint beneath his fingernails, the room reeking of alcohol and something floral. On the canvas was the painting. Not the one he remembered, but something else: a forest of green flame, a figure dancing within it, head thrown back in ecstasy or pain.
He became famous, briefly. Then infamous. Then a cautionary tale. “The last true bohemian,” they called him, “devoured by the Green Muse.”
They never found the bar again. Or the bartender. Or the recipe for the absinthe that turned dreams into madness.
But sometimes, when the light turns just right in a glass, and the sugar melts into shadow, you might catch a glimpse of her—tall, green, and waiting.
And if you do, ask yourself:
What are you willing to trade for one beautiful lie?

Directions:
For the body oil: apply to wrists and other pulse points. As your body heat warms up the oil, the scent will release. Oil based fragrances are heavier than sprays and wear closer to your body. Reapply as often as needed. We use light dry oils so that the oil base absorbs more quickly into your skin, leaving no oily or sticky residue.
For the spray: our sprays are alcohol based for a larger burst of fragrance upon applying. We do not use any synthetic additives in our products to increase longevity of our scents (making our products more natural for you to wear), so please reapply as needed. Please note: some people are more sensitive to alcohol based products, please test prior to normal use.
Ingredients in oils: organic jojoba oils, phthalate free fragrance and essential oils, and organic vitamin E oil. May contain isopropyl myristate.
