Seabury Point was the kind of town where nothing ever happened—until July 4th.
The Fourth brought a surge of tourists, sparklers in kids’ hands and coolers heavy with beer and ice. By dusk, the beach was a blanket of bodies, music, and laughter. Offshore, a few small sailboats drifted in the waning light, their white sails glowing like ghosts on the water.
One of them—a 14-foot sloop named Morning Finch—never came back.
It was owned by Thomas Brewer, a quiet high school teacher, sailing solo as he did every summer. People on the bluff saw it tip suddenly, the sail whipping sideways. A splash. Then stillness.
When the harbor patrol found the wreckage the next morning, the sail was shredded. No hull damage. No sign of a collision. Just blood in the water and one severed leg tangled in the mainsheet.
Deputy Claire Rainer stood on the dock, staring at it, sick to her stomach. The coroner called it a boating accident. The mayor, red-faced and sweating in his American flag tie, told the press it was a tragic misadventure. “The ocean is unpredictable,” he said. “But the beaches are safe.”
Claire wasn’t so sure.
She’d grown up here. She knew the water. This wasn’t normal.
Then on July 7th, a tourist’s arm washed up near the dunes. Bloated. Raggedly torn. A wedding band still clung to the finger. Two deaths in three days. Both unexplained. Both near the southern end of the beach.
“I’m telling you, it’s a shark,” Claire said, standing in Dr. Mendez’s office, pointing at the autopsy photos. “Not a propeller. Not a fall. Something bit them.”
Mayor Collins rolled his eyes. “It’s a bad week, not a monster movie. Don’t spook the town.”
But that night, a lobsterman spotted a massive fin knifing through the harbor under the moonlight. He came ashore trembling, rambling about a beast longer than his skiff, moving like it owned the water.
By July 9th, the body count was three.
Claire brought in Dr. Eli Stone, a reclusive shark expert from Boston—tall, weathered, with a limp and a deep, puckered scar down one arm. “If it’s a rogue great white,” he said grimly, “and it’s decided to hunt inshore, you’ve got a predator that thinks this town is its hunting ground.”
Despite her warnings, the mayor insisted the Fire & Water Festival go on. “We need this,” he said. “People are jumpy. Don’t make it worse.”
July 12th. A thousand tourists packed the beach. Fireworks burst in the air above, and kids squealed as they splashed in the darkening surf. That’s when it happened.
A boy on a boogie board vanished in waist-high water.
One scream, then red foam. A lifeguard dove in and came up alone, sobbing. The board washed in minutes later, bitten clean through like a cracker. The crowd stampeded. The festival ended in chaos.
They closed the beach. The press swarmed. The mayor resigned.
Three days later, they found it.
A 22-foot great white, caught offshore with baited chains and half a cow. It took harpoons and dynamite to kill it. Its belly spilled nylon, bones, and part of a sail.
Claire stayed on the force. She still walks the shoreline at night.
Because the sea, she says, remembers.
And sometimes, just past the break, she swears she sees a black shape gliding under the waves, slow and silent.

Re-release from Lizabé for 2025! Shark Attack. The perfume opens with a flash of citron—sharp and clean like sunlight bouncing off a sail just before it vanishes beyond the horizon. An ozone accord rolls in next, cool and electric, evoking the tense hush before the water breaks. Beneath it, sea salt crystals gather on sunburned skin, carried by a whisper of jasmine, floating just out of reach.
As it dries down, a bed of wild violets blooms along the shoreline, unexpectedly soft—floral, melancholy, and just a little ghostly. The full composition clings like mist to memory: bracing yet tender, salty yet sweet.
Notes:
Top: Citron, Ozone
Heart: Jasmine, Sea Salt
Base: Violets, Driftwood
Smells like: A deserted beach at dusk. Faded flowers on the tide. Wind in your hair and something vast, silent, and watching just beneath the surface.

Directions:
For the body oil: apply to wrists and other pulse points. As your body heat warms up the oil, the scent will release. Oil based fragrances are heavier than sprays and wear closer to your body. Reapply as often as needed. We use light dry oils so that the oil base absorbs more quickly into your skin, leaving no oily or sticky residue.
For the spray: our sprays are alcohol based for a larger burst of fragrance upon applying. We do not use any synthetic additives in our products to increase longevity of our scents (making our products more natural for you to wear), so please reapply as needed. Please note: some people are more sensitive to alcohol based products, please test prior to normal use.
