Secrets in the Parlour

They dined in the red parlour that evening —
not the formal dining hall with its long echoing table and silver service,
but the smaller room at the back of the house,
where velvet curtains dulled the lamplight
and conversation always seemed to soften into whispers.

Elowen set the table herself.
Roast duck with blood orange glaze.
Spiced plums, glistening and dark.
Sugared bread with melted butter, sliced while still warm.

He was in good spirits.
Charming, even.
He complimented the meal.
He reached for her hand.

She smiled, gently withdrawing.

When the plates were cleared,
she brought out the cordial —
uncorked just before sunset to breathe.
A rich amber color, drawn from orchard fruit and time.
She poured carefully, evenly,
into the cut glass he liked best.
The one with the faint crack near the rim.

“It’s from the orchard,” she said, holding his gaze.
“I thought it might remind you of me.”

He laughed at that.
A boyish sound, disarming and strange.
Then he drank deeply, eyes still on hers.

The room was warm now, holding its breath.
A low fire hummed in the grate.
The scent of orange peel and plum skins clung to the air.
Jasmine drifted from the single wilting bloom she’d tucked into the vase beside his chair.
Cinnamon and polished wood hovered beneath it all —
sweet, spiced, softened by velvet and time.

He poured himself another.

She let him.

Dark, spiced, and steeped in silence, Secrets in the Parlour evokes the weight of a private room at dusk — heavy drapes drawn, the fire burning low, and something unspoken thick in the air.

The scent opens with dried orange peel and blackened plum, subdued and simmering beneath smoke-warmed cinnamon. There’s no brightness here — only flesh and fruit, steeped in syrup and shadow. A quiet trace of wilted jasmine drifts beneath the spice, softened by age and candlelight. The base reveals the room’s true memory: polished wood, ambered velvet, tonka bean, and vanilla resin, settling low and long on the skin.

The scent of the room where supper was served, the cordial was poured,
and silence became something sacred.

Our fragrances are hand mixed once your order is placed, so that our perfumes arrive to you as fresh as possible. Please allow shipping time to accommodate our personal attention to your new items! Perfumes can be worn 24 hours after mixing, however for best results, wait at least 2 weeks after creation for the full bouquet to shine through!

Directions:

For the body oil: apply to wrists and other pulse points. As your body heat warms up the oil, the scent will release. Oil based fragrances are heavier than sprays and wear closer to your body. Reapply as often as needed. We use light dry oils so that the oil base absorbs more quickly into your skin, leaving no oily or sticky residue.

For the spray: our sprays are alcohol based for a larger burst of fragrance upon applying. We do not use any synthetic additives in our products to increase longevity of our scents (making our products more natural for you to wear), so please reapply as needed. Please note: some people are more sensitive to alcohol based products, please test prior to normal use.

Ingredients in oils: organic jojoba oils, phthalate free fragrance and essential oils, and organic vitamin E oil. May contain isopropyl myristate.

Ingredients in sprays: denatured or grain alcohol, phthalate free fragrance and essential oils.

Warning: Spray is flammable! Do not use sprays near open flame or heat source! Do not ingest! Keep away from eyes, nose, and mouth. Keep away from children and pets. Do not apply oils to fabrics, may stain.
