Midnight Mass

(A liturgy observed)

The church was already full when she arrived.

She slipped into a pew near the back, brushing snow from her coat as the organist struck the first quiet chord. Midnight Mass had begun. The congregation rose as one, voices low and steady, the sound of the hymn rising like breath into the vaulted ceiling.

The air was thick with frankincense, its curls of smoke drifting from the swinging censer. Myrrh and resin clung to the heavy velvet vestments, mingling with the warmth of candlelight and the faint winter cold still caught in their scarves.

She bowed her head as the liturgy unfolded — not out of habit, but out of stillness.

Scripture was read. Bells were rung. The priest’s voice echoed in the stone, soft and solemn. She watched as the altar was prepared, the wine lifted, the host raised. Everything moved with quiet purpose — a rhythm older than memory.

By the time communion began, she didn’t feel like a visitor anymore. Just one soul among many, gathered in the dark, bearing witness to the light.

When the final hymn faded and the congregation began to leave, she remained seated. Candles still burned. The scent of incense still lingered, warm and bittersweet in the air.

Only then, when the pews had emptied and the doors hushed closed behind the last footsteps, did she reach into her coat pocket.

The rosary slid into her palm — cool, familiar, and worn smooth by time.

She prayed slowly, silently, letting each bead pass through her fingers with the unhurried rhythm of breath. There were no words spoken aloud. Just the soft sound of wax dripping onto stone, and the faint echo of ancient chant still held in the rafters.

She didn’t pray for anything in particular.
Only to be still.
Only to remain a little longer in the presence of something holy.

When she finally stood, the candles had burned lower, and the smoke had thinned.
She pressed the rosary to her lips once.
And stepped back into the snow.

The heart is steeped in warm incense, softened by the presence of hushed voices and heavy velvet. Beneath it all, patchouli and oudh anchors the blend — dark, steady, and still.

This is not a fragrance of spectacle.
It is a fragrance of devotion.

The warmth of the pew beneath you.

Our fragrances are hand mixed once your order is placed, so that our perfumes arrive to you as fresh as possible. Please allow shipping time to accommodate our personal attention to your new items! Perfumes can be worn 24 hours after mixing, however for best results, wait at least 2 weeks after creation for the full bouquet to shine through!

All of our products are vegan and cruelty free! Also, they are phthalate free, paraben free, and CA Prop 65 compliant!

Directions:

For the body oil: apply to wrists and other pulse points. As your body heat warms up the oil, the scent will release. Oil based fragrances are heavier than sprays and wear closer to your body. Reapply as often as needed. We use light dry oils so that the oil base absorbs more quickly into your skin, leaving no oily or sticky residue.

For the spray: our sprays are alcohol based for a larger burst of fragrance upon applying. We do not use any synthetic additives in our products to increase longevity of our scents (making our products more natural for you to wear), so please reapply as needed. Please note: some people are more sensitive to alcohol based products, please test prior to normal use.

Ingredients in oils: organic jojoba oils, phthalate free fragrance and essential oils, and organic vitamin E oil.

Ingredients in sprays: denatured or grain alcohol, phthalate free fragrance and essential oils.

Warning: Spray is flammable! Do not use sprays near open flame or heat source! Do not ingest! Keep away from eyes, nose, and mouth. Keep away from children and pets. Do not apply oils to fabrics, may stain.
